Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation reaching more students thanks to a $65 million gift

The nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships for military children recently received a $65 million gift.

The largest gift in the history of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation was given by Fred Smith, a Marine Corps veteran and founder and chairman of FedEx.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Major General Charles F. Bolden Jr., a former NASA administrator and astronaut, told program host Rose Scott that the funds will split to establish the Brown Hudner Navy Scholarship Foundation.
