Consumer advocates calls for better debt protections in Georgia

During the pandemic, consumer debt lawsuits went on hiatus. Dockets though are once again full with collections-related cases.

Georgia offers little protection from wage garnishments for consumers who find themselves in the crosshairs of debt collectors.

That’s according to Liz Coyle, executive director of the consumer advocacy non-profit Georgia Watch. She says state lawmakers now have an opportunity to change that.
