Voters in Fulton County who live outside the City of Atlanta will have the chance this fall to extend a sales tax that funds projects in 14 cities.
The .75-cent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) has been in place since 2017 for Alpharetta, Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Palmetto, Roswell, Sandy Springs, South Fulton and Union City.
This covers more than 600,000 residents but does not include the City of Atlanta.
On Monday, the Fulton County Commission approved an intergovernmental agreement with the cities, which includes how the estimated $650 million would be split between the cities.
There is already a proposed list of projects that include funding for local roads, sidewalks, trails and more.
