Atlanta’s Peach Drop 2019: Here’s What You Need To Know

Preparations are underway for Atlanta’s highly anticipated, annual Peach Drop.
This year, the 800-pound peach will return to Underground Atlanta so that it can be dropped as a way to celebrate the start of the new year. Last year, the celebration happened at Woodruff Park for the first time since the event started in 1989.
Underground Atlanta will open up to the public on Dec. 31, at 6 p.m., and entertainment will start at 7 p.m., according to the city of Atlanta’s press release.
Attendees can enter the free festival through Peachtree Street, Marietta Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The event, which usually includes a daylong party complete with live music, attracts thousands each year.
Jagged Edge, Better Than Ezra and 112 “The Xperience” will be the musical performances, according to the press release.
R&B group Jagged Edge is known for hits such as “Where the Party At” and “Let’s Get Married.” Some of 112’s songs include “Peaches & Cream” and “Only You.” Rock band Better Than Ezra has songs “Desperately Wanting” and “Good.”
Last year, R&B group TLC, rapper Jeezy and singer Tyrese performed.
Starting at 3:30 p.m., there will be street closures on Peachtree Street to Wall Street, Wall Street to Central Avenue, Central Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard to Peachtree Street, according to the press release.
