Atlanta’s Peach Drop 2019: Here’s What You Need To Know

Fireworks explode in the background as the peach hits the bottom of the tower at Underground Atlanta to signal the beginning of 2000. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms confirmed Wednesday that the Peach Drop, the city’s New Year’s Eve celebration, will return to Underground Atlanta after moving to Woodruff Park last year.

Preparations are underway for Atlanta’s highly anticipated, annual Peach Drop.

This year, the 800-pound peach will return to  Underground Atlanta so that it can be dropped as a way to celebrate the start of the new year. Last year, the celebration happened at Woodruff Park for the first time since the event started in 1989.
