Two candidates for the vacant Atlanta City Council Post 3 at-large seat are facing off in a Dec. 3 runoff election.

WABE’s “Morning Edition” featured both Eshé Collins and Dr. Nicole Evans Jones. Neither received more than 50% of the vote during record turnout on Election Day, while both were running alongside several other candidates for the post.

Jones, a former Atlanta Public Schools principal endorsed by civil rights icon Andrew Young, took 40% of the vote. Collins, an Atlanta native and the former chair and vice chair of the Atlanta Public Schools Board, took 25% and has been endorsed by the Georgia Working Families Party.
