While Georgia lawmakers work on a bill to overhaul the state’s decades-old voting system, the organization founded by Stacey Abrams continues its federal lawsuit.
Fair Fight Action alleges mismanagement and voter suppression in Georgia elections, including the 2018 cycle in which Abrams, a Democrat, narrowly lost to Republican Brian Kemp. At the time, Kemp was also the sitting secretary of state, Georgia’s chief elections officer. Abrams and Fair Fight argue Kemp should have stepped down as secretary of state in order to run for governor.
In the months since November, Abrams has delivered the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union message, and faced repeated questions about her next run for office. She has even been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.
