This Saturday will mark two years since the death of environmental activist Manuel Esteban Paez Terán, also known as Tortuguita. They were fatally shot by Georgia State Troopers during a reported “clearing operation” at the site of the soon-to-be Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
While the Georgia Bureau of Investigations claims troopers fired in self-defense, the family of Paez Terán has filed a lawsuit over alleged civil rights violations.
