The University of Georgia accepted over 15,800 freshmen for admittance for the upcoming fall semester after receiving a record-breaking number of applications nationwide.
UGA announced Tuesday that it received nearly 48,000 applicants vying for a spot in the Class of 2029, 12% more than the previous year and the largest application pool in the institution’s 240-year history.
Out of the students admitted, 80% are in-state, representing 154 of Georgia’s 159 counties. The 20% of incoming freshmen out-of-state represent 49 other U.S. states and Washington D.C.
