The 2026 gubernatorial race is taking shape with confirmed and potential candidates. So far, State Sen. Jason Esteves, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr have entered the race by filing the necessary paperwork or by making an announcement.

There’s also speculation that former DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, two-time nominee Stacey Abrams and Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones could soon submit their bids.
