Counties throughout metro Atlanta are finalizing plans to open cooling centers on Monday, following heat advisories across the state of Georgia.
According to the National Weather Service in Atlanta, this week will mark the first significant heat wave of 2025 for Georgia. Triple-digit temperatures are expected, with the most scorching temperatures anticipated between Tuesday and Friday.
The high temperature is expected to reach 96 degrees in Atlanta on Wednesday, with the heat index hitting 103 degrees.
