Atlanta City Councilmember Jason Dozier had a terrifying experience last month. He and his daughter were hit by a car while biking home from an Atlanta United match downtown. The driver was making an illegal U-turn near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, according to Atlanta police.

Dozier had just taught his 4-year-old how to ride a bike a month before the accident. The pair walked away with minor injuries — bruised and bloody, Dozier says, but alive.

Now Dozier tells WABE’s “Morning Edition” that he’s even more committed to making Atlanta more bike-safe, and “reclaiming our streets.”
