Author and historian Carolyn Curry discusses her new novel Trudy’s Awakening, a story of two young women growing up in 19th-century Georgia — one the daughter of a planter, the other enslaved. Curry explains how her background as a historian inspired her to recover the voices of women often left out of history and talks about her upcoming appearance at the 20th Decatur Book Festival, which runs Oct. 3–4.
