Before becoming Brenau University, the institution of higher learning was known as the Georgia Baptist Female Seminary.
This was the name given to the college back in 1878, when it was first founded.
The institution’s founder, Dr. W.C. Wilkes, had a vision: educating young women in the Gainesville, Georgia, community.
