A huge moment in hip-hop history is happening this week. On Saturday, Nov. 8, OutKast will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class.
From their first studio album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik in 1994, to their last, Idlewild in 2006, André 3000 and Big Boi have created a genre-blended discography of music.
On Wednesday, ahead of the ceremony, “Closer Look” program host Rose Scott spoke with a roundtable of guests about the origins and influence of OutKast. Together, they reflected on how the rap duo became “a voice of a generation” and how their creative, innovative and boundary-pushing work transformed and positioned the duo as one of the best hip-hop groups of all time.
