“Life is too short for commas!” That’s just one of the many wonderful lines and a bit of wisdom in the new film “Here Today” with actors Tiffany Haddish and Billy Crystal. The movie is based on “The Prize,” a short story by award-winning comedy writer Alan Zweibel.
Zweibel spoke with “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes about the film and how it related to his own life.
“Here Today” is about an older man named Charlie Burnz, played by Crystal, and a younger woman named Emma Payge, played by Haddish, who form a friendship. Burnz experiences the onset of dementia and is trying to finish his novel before he forgets what and how to write. The book is a tribute to his deceased wife, and Payge becomes his muse. The movie weaves humor into a very sensitive topic while maintaining respect for the subject.
