The city of Atlanta is all set to celebrate the World Series champion Atlanta Braves on Friday with a parade starting downtown at noon and ending inside of Truist Park in Cobb County.

The Braves defeated the Houston Astros in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday to claim their first World Championship since 1995. Braves players, coaches, and fans were filled with excitement after the Braves’ 7-0 victory.

After a slow start to the 2021 season and several key injuries, the Braves were not expected to make a run this year. But after a series of trades in August, the team began playing inspired baseball. The Braves have now earned the franchise’s second World Series title since moving to Atlanta in 1966.

The Braves announced the parade route and other details on Wednesday.

The parade is set to begin at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park.

The Braves say the Atlanta portion of the parade will end at Peachtree and 10th Street. The team will then travel through Cobb County on Cobb Parkway starting at Riverwood Parkway. The parade ends inside of Truist Park where a celebration and concert event will take place. Team officials say the event  at Triust Park will be ticketed.

Attendees should expect heavy congestion in the area as roads will be closed ahead of and during the parade. Officials encourage everyone who wants to attend to arrive early.

The last time the Braves held a parade was in downtown Atlanta after the team earned the 1995 World Series crown. Braves players sat on top of fire trucks and rode down Peachtree Street as thousands of fans gathered to celebrate.

The most recent time the City of Atlanta held a sport championship parade was in December 2018 when the Atlanta United claimed the MLS Cup.
