A major redevelopment project aimed at reconnecting Midtown and Downtown Atlanta is moving into a new stage of the process.

Atlanta Downtown Stitch Inc. has officially formed as the nonprofit entity responsible for bringing the long-planned “Stitch” to life and its inaugural board of directors. Leading the nonprofit is Jack Cebe, who previously served as project director within the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. As CEO and president, Cebe will guide the next phase of planning, construction and long-term development.

Cebe says the project is on track to break ground in mid-2027, pushed back from a previously announced 2026 groundbreaking, after losing more than $150 million in federal funding as part of President Donald Trump’s tax and spending plan.
