The Atlanta-filmed CBS daytime soap “Beyond the Gates” received 15 Daytime Emmy Award nominations on Tuesday, solidifying the groundbreaking series’ popularity in its first season of award eligibility.

The network drama centers around the lives of the Duprees, a wealthy African American family who live in the fictional Fairmont Crest community, as well as the friends, neighbors, lovers, and colleagues who shape their daily trials and tribulations.

The daytime soap is produced at Doraville’s Assembly Studios and is the creation of veteran daytime scribe Michelle Val Jean and Sheila Ducksworth, president of CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, a partnership that works to bring content representing African Americans to the screen.

At the time of its premiere in February 2025, “Gates” was the first network daytime soap opera in over 25 years to be greenlit for production and the first daytime venture to feature a majority African American cast.

This October, it will go against long-running genre staples “Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” for Outstanding Drama Series.

Veteran soap actresses Tamara Tunie (“As the World Turns”) and Karla Mosely (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) are nominated for outstanding leading actress, with actors Timon Kyle Durrett and Mike Manning nominated for outstanding supporting actor and Trisha Mann-Grant for outstanding supporting actress in her role as breakout character, “Leslie Thomas.”

Atlanta-based actresses Ambyr-Michelle and Arielle Prepetit are both nominated in the Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series debut category for their roles as “Eva Thomas” and “Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne,” respectively.

Rounding out the acting noms is Atlanta native Jasmine Burke (“Saints and Sinners,” “Star”) for outstanding guest performer as “June Hughes.”

In addition, the show scored nominations for hairstyling and makeup, casting, lighting direction, music composition, technical direction and writing.

The cast and crew of the series took to social media to celebrate the series’s freshman nominations.

“EMMY NOMINATED!!! JESUS!!!!! Nothing but the Lord!!!!” wrote Michelle in a Tuesday post shortly after receiving her nomination. “Congratulations to EVERY brilliant mind behind Beyond the Gates!!”

“So grateful for this whole family team who came together and brought thoughts in my head to glorious life,” said Van Jean in a post honoring the show’s 15 noms. “Every nomination on this list is so well deserved. I am proud… and humbled.”

The recognition for “Gates,” which was recently renewed for third and fourth seasons, comes at a time when Georgia is experiencing fewer production opportunities than in previous years.

In addition, “Divorce Court,” also produced in Atlanta, received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Legal / Courtroom Series and Outstanding Daytime Personality – Daily for hosts Star Jones & Corey Jovan.

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air on Friday, Oct. 30.
