The Atlanta Braves are honoring one of the franchise’s best players nearly a century after his playing career.

During a pregame ceremony against the New York Mets on Saturday, former outfielder Wally Berger was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame. Dubbed as “the original slugger of Braves history,” the announcement was followed by a video from team historian and archivist Sam Wallace commemorating Berger’s accomplishments.

A Chicago native born in 1905 to German immigrants, Berger made his MLB debut with the Braves in 1930, when the team was based in Boston.
