The Atlanta Community Press Collective has published documents obtained by the news outlet in an open records lawsuit against the Atlanta Police Foundation.
The private nonprofit helps recruit and raise money for the Atlanta Police Department and was one of the groups behind the city’s controversial police and firefighter training facility, widely known by protesters as ‘Cop City.’
In 2023, ACPC requested documents and meeting minutes related to the facility, but initially did not hear from APF. The collective then worked with Lucy Parsons Labs and eventually sued the foundation. In May, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jane Barwick ruled in favor of ACPC and ordered the police foundation to release the records within 30 days.
