The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently appointed David Plazas as its new opinion editor.
The 25-year veteran journalist will serve as an editorial board member and be tasked with expanding the publication’s opinion content and community engagement initiatives.
On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Plazas spoke with show host Rose Scott about his career journey, which involved pivoting from pre-law to journalism. He also talked about his approach to covering local and state issues, centering diverse voices and building relationships.
“We want to be the ultimate place for conversations—even with people who disagree with each other,” explained Plazas.
He further discussed what he believes makes for a good and fair opinion article.
