On City Lights’ series “Speaking of Music,” local musicians share work and stories in their own voices. In today’s segment, we feature vocalist and musician Cat Carter

“One way I would describe my music is pop-soul with some very folk-bluesy undertones,” says Carter. “I play guitar, piano, and ukulele.”

Carter got started on her journey in music at the age of 12 at a summer camp. “That really launched me into the world of songwriting and creating music,” Carter said. Eventually, Carter made it to Berklee College of Music. She’s been playing in festivals and gigs around the South ever since, having the honor of playing with many notable musicians.
