On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Poetry,” Atlanta’s most prolific wordsmiths discuss the art of evoking emotions with words. This “Speaking of Poetry” edition features poet and author Lauren K. Watel.
Watel recently released her first book, “Book of Potions,” which combines poems and fiction. Her writing draws from complex emotions, enabling her to articulate and effectively process those feelings on the page.
“Atlanta has influenced my poetry because it’s such a complicated place. It has a dark past, but it also such a promising future, so I try to incorporate those complications into my work,” said Watel.
