No one actually keeps track of how many chickens are in Atlanta. But one chicken owner says there could be thousands in the city. During its egg laying years a chicken will lay about 260 eggs a year, about 5 a week. All of the eggs in grocery stores are unfertilized which means they can’t be used in hopes of hatching a baby chick.
