As issues around queer and trans youth flood our news cycles, and many states are working to ban gender-affirming care, one group of Christian conservative moms have come together to protect their queer and trans kids.

The new documentary “Mama Bears” follows three moms and their families, sharing in their own words how their Christian faith evolved as they learned to embrace and fight for LGBTQ children. “Mama Bears” will air on WABE TV on June 20.

In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with the film’s award-winning producer/director Daresha Kyi.

“You don’t know what the biggest sin is because some preacher told you that. For me, it’s very clear that love is meant to be supreme,” Kyi said.

Mama Bears” airs on WABE TV on June 20, and more information is available here.
