Georgia lawmakers are gearing up for a special session to redraw several congressional districts.

In a more than 500-page order, U.S. District Court Judge Steve C. Jones recently ruled that several boundary lines for congressional districts throughout metro Atlanta violate the Voting Rights Act.

Gov. Brian Kemp recently ordered the special session to redraw the boundary lines to start on Friday, Nov. 29.

Lawmakers have until Friday, Dec. 8, to redraw the districts, creating more majority-Black political districts to comply with the federal Voting Rights Act.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” WABE politics reporter Sam Gringlas returns to the program to discuss the latest.
