Earlier this year, Lorraine Cochran-Johnson was sworn in as the fifth CEO of DeKalb County, making her the first Black woman to lead Georgia’s fourth most-populated county.

Now, more than halfway through her first 100 days in office and with a closer view of the challenges facing DeKalb, the longtime politician says there’s a lot she didn’t know – but she’s thankful she had preparation as a commissioner.

Within her first month in office, CEO Madam Cochran-Johnson says she’s faced a federal lawsuit, a water main break and a snowstorm.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Cochran-Johnson talked with show host Rose Scott about her top priorities: economic development, public safety and infrastructure.
