The Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation provides legal services and other wraparound services to people facing unstable housing and intimate partner abuse.

The Fulton County-based nonprofit, which places legal advocates and social workers in the courthouse and the communities with domestic violence survivors, has lost almost all its federal funding amid ongoing cuts under the Trump administration.

Michael Lucas, who serves as the executive director for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, says the organization has an annual operating budget of $6.5 million. So far, the organization has lost $1.9 million in federal dollars. There’s also a threat that the organization could lose even more federal funds.
