This week, President Donald Trump said he wants his eventual education secretary to put themselves “out of a job.” His statement comes as the Trump Administration has prepared an executive order to begin dismantling the office he intends for Linda McMahon to lead.

However, fully closing the department would require an act of Congress to abolish it. So far, the House Education and Workforce Committee has heard from interest groups advocating for or against shutting down the Department of Education.

For “Closer Look’s” Feedback Friday, show host Rose Scott asked callers about the role of the agency. Scott was joined by Tiffany Fick, the chief of strategy at Equity in Education, who also shared details about the potential impact the dismantling of the agency could have on education, school funding, etc.
