First African-American Elected Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta

The Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta has chosen the first African-American priest in its history to become its 10th bishop.

Rev. Robert C. Wright was elected by delegates and clergy representing 96 parishes and approximately 52,000 members, which covers north and middle Georgia.

Wright spoke to WABE Sunday morning as he got ready for church.

Wright said he believes his election reflects a trend toward greater inclusion and diversity within the denomination.
