An independent panel of vaccine experts is not meeting this week in Atlanta, as had long been planned.

It was supposed to be the first gathering of the “Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices” (ACIP) under President Donald Trump’s new Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

The ACIP isn’t seen as very political or controversial, and its recommendations are central to forming the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine policy.
