The reconstruction of Venezuela’s government is still in limbo. President Donald Trump has said the U.S. will run the country following the military operation that resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The Trump administration is planning for U.S. companies to take over oil production with military support. Meanwhile, Maduro has been charged with narco-terrorism, cocaine importation conspiracy and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. He and his wife have pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to appear in court again on March 17.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” program host Rose Scott talks with former U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela and current President of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta Charles Shapiro. He shared his thoughts on the unfolding situation and shared his concerns about the future of the nation.
