Georgia bobsled trailblazer Elana Meyers Taylor races into 2026 Winter Olympics

Out of the 232 U.S. athletes that are part of Team USA’s final roster for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor serves as the sole representative from Georgia.

The games take place Feb. 6-22. Here’s what you need to know about the 41-year-old Meyers Taylor, who grew up just outside of Atlanta in Douglasville:

She started off as a softball player

Meyers Taylor began playing softball at age 9, setting a goal to qualify for the Summer Olympics. She watched softball’s Olympic debut when the games were held in Atlanta in 1996.
