Georgia Democrats expressed shock Tuesday night as news came in of Donald Trump’s leading in the race to the White House.
At the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta, Clinton supporters gathered to watch the election results, but many party leaders were absent from the main hall as the night progressed.
“I feel like I’m in a very bad dream right now,” said Oscar Pope, a Clinton supporter who attended the watch party. “It’s very disheartening to see that the progress that we made over the last four years — not only a black president — but we made so many strides socially with LGBT marriage, and just so many social strides and to see that, now, potentially come to a halt.”
