The American Society of Civil Engineers has released its 2025 report on U.S. infrastructure, awarding the nation its highest grade yet — a C. This is an improvement from the C- grade received in 2021.
The report evaluates 18 categories, such as roads, bridges, and water systems. ASCE President-elect Marsha Bomar joined “All Things Considered” to talk about how Georgia compares to these national ratings.
While Georgia has made significant strides in the maintenance of the state’s bridges, there are serious concerns about the condition of dams and transit infrastructure in the state.
Bomar emphasized the need for sustained funding, resilience planning, and innovation to improve and maintain U.S. infrastructure.
Christopher Alston contributed to this report.
