On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Grady Health System President and CEO John Haupert shared the system’s plans to open two new outpatient centers serving central and south Fulton County.

The centers will join several others across Fulton and DeKalb counties, and follows Wellstar Health System’s closure of two hospitals last year – leaving Grady as the only Level 1 trauma center in both counties.

“We didn’t have a whole lot of notice about the closures,” said Haupert, who added that Grady was able to recruit some of Wellstar’s staff to meet increased demand.

Haupert says the new outpatient centers will cover primary care services in addition to providing rotating specialists for cardiology, mammography, HIV services and more.

“We’re really excited about being able to get more care into the community and where people live,” Haupert said.

The Cascade Outpatient Center, located at 3355 Cascade Rd., is set to open in July. The Lee + White Outpatient Center at 1000 White St. will open by the end of the year, with Haupert noting plans to soon announce additional centers in DeKalb County.
