Malaika Jabali acknowledges that nowadays, people are working multiple jobs, but they are making less money. She says many younger Americans are delaying major milestones such as buying a home, getting married and having children. Jabali says it’s not the fault of Gen Z or Millennials – she blames capitalism.
Jabali, who is an attorney, activist, and the senior news and politics editor at Essence Magazine, is now on a mission to help others. Specifically, in her latest book, “It’s Not You, It’s Capitalism,” she wants to reach Gen Z and millennials and help them to better understand the historic and current economic situation of America and how she feels capitalism has played a role.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jabali talks more about her book and how it seeks to provide insights from labor leaders, economists and more about how they feel people can best navigate a capitalistic society. She also explains why she’s making a case for socialism.
