Kennesaw State University researchers are setting out to tackle chronic loneliness among older adults with a new AI-powered tool called Sandrapp — short for Supporting Adults Needing Direct Relationship App.

The app isn’t designed for chatting or scrolling. Instead, it uses artificial intelligence to match seniors with people who share similar values, beliefs and life experiences — helping to foster real-world relationships.

The project brings together experts in computing, psychology and usability engineering, who say they’re starting by listening to older adults and their families before building features.
