Latino organizations see increased need for food assistance amid federal cuts, ICE raids

Federal cuts to SNAP benefits, combined with immigration raids, have led to increased need for food assistance among some in the Latino community.

In August, the Latin American Association’s Emergency Food Pantry distributed more than 29,000 pounds of food — nearly double what they distributed in August 2024.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” show host Rose Scott talked with Santiago Marquez, the CEO of the Latin American Association, and Gilda “Gigi” Pedraza, the executive director of the Latino Community Fund of Georgia.
