Most of Georgia is still experiencing a drought. But, drought conditions vary in different parts of the state.
There are five levels of drought: Abnormally Dry, Moderate Drought, Severe Drought, Extreme Drought and Exceptional Drought. Although metro Atlanta is not in a drought, state climatologist Bill Murphey says other parts of Georgia aren’t so lucky.
“Greater than 50% of the state, of central and southern Georgia is still experiencing extreme drought conditions,” Murphey says.
