Last week on All Things Considered, WABE News reporter Jim Burress reported on the financial problems facing Youth Pride, a community organization for Atlanta’s LGBT youth. Youth Pride is a community organization that’s provided a safe place, support groups, and counseling for Atlanta’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth since the mid-1990s. On any given week, about a hundred LGBT youth will pass through the center.
But, as Burress reports, the organization has now been sued for non-payment of rent. And it’s not even clear if Youth Pride is legally functioning.
Now, as more questions are raised about the nature of those problems, here’s Jim’s original story, followed by a conversation between City Cafe host John Lemley and Jim Burress about what’s happened since.
