Emory Healthcare, Grady Health System and Georgia Southern University are among the most recent recipients of grants from the state’s Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust fund.
The grants include $3 million for the Georgia Southern University Research and Service Foundation, which officials announced would go toward programs outside the Atlanta area, including harm reduction and research, and supporting rural hospitals.
“Georgia Southern University is honored to be entrusted with these critical resources to address the opioid crisis in our state,” said Kyle Marrero, president of Georgia Southern University, at a ceremony announcing the funding.
