Civil rights champion Andrew Young has held numerous positions, including U.S. congressman, ambassador, and mayor of Atlanta. He was also a top aide to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For more than seven decades, he dedicated his life to serving others.

Ahead of the film’s debut, Rachel Maddow, Emmy-winning MSNBC host, author, and the documentary’s executive producer, joined Rose Scott on “Closer Look” to talk about the project. Maddow shared her reflections on Young’s powerful legacy, his lifelong work for civil rights, and what it was like to help bring his story to the screen.
