Georgia’s new license plates are making their debut today. The new design was chosen from 500 entries in a contest last year. Vicki Lambert, the director of motor vehicles for the Georgia Department of Revenue, says older license plates will be replaced first.
“It’s any plate that was issued prior to 2004,” Lambert says, “So, the main thing to look at is what the plate looks like on the back of your car. If it says ‘Georgia.gov,’it’s not in this first group to be re-plated. It’s those plates that say ‘Georgia on My Mind.’”
Lambert says the department will start replacing license plates issued after 2004 next May.
