Most of the 200 in attendance were actually parents of elementary students who would later be attending Coan. One of the few Coan parents there was 47 year old Carolyn Looby. She lives just behind the school and has two children enrolled here. Looby says that the school board should be less worried about the finances, and more concerned with the impact that closing this school would have on the community.
“Sometimes we have to made that investment and know that it’s an investment that needs to be made in our school. Closing it down is not an option”
Nearby, a group of Coan students were waiting for a soccer game to begin. They were also concerned about losing the sense of community they have at Coan.
