President, CEO Of Mundo Hispanico Talks About Serving Georgia’s Hispanic Community Amid Pandemic

Rene Alegria, president and CEO of Mundo Hispanico, joins “Closer Look” to share how his digital news outlet is serving Georgia’s Latino community during the pandemic.

The man spearheading one of the largest Spanish independent digital news outlets in the country says the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Hispanic community incredibly hard. Since the start of the pandemic, the staff at his publication strengthened their efforts to serve the Hispanic community in a very personal way.

“We actually saved, I think, saved lives,” said Rene Alegria, president and CEO of Mundo Hispanico on Monday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

In reflecting on 2020, Alegria told show host Rose Scott that Mundo Hispanico had to combat misinformation and the climate of fear and mistrust.
