The new Atlanta United FC kit is here, and while it’s similar to the old uniform design, it has a few key additions.

After the release of pyrotechnics inside of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a screen dropped to show the jerseys being worn by Atlanta United FC player and MLS MVP Josef Martinez, rap group  D4L member Fabo, among others. Also, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, sporting the new kit, took the stage at the event on Friday.

“Check out the jersey though man,” Waka Flocka Flame said. “I’m a hardcore fan…”

The theme of the kit is Star and Stripes, with a new gold star on the soccer team’s crest that is placed over the heart. The black-and-red stripe design has a 17 mark in the state of Georgia along the bottom that “represents the ’17’s’— fans who helped break every attendance record in MLS Regular Season, MLS Cup Playoffs and MLS All-Star history,” the team said in a press release. The star is a symbol for the team’s 2018 MLS Championship win.

The details of the jersey can be seen on Atlanta United’s Leandro González Pirez and Julian Gressel in this video below from the MLS website.

Before the kit unveil event, fans had a chance to take a photo with the Atlanta United’s MLS Cup trophy. A DJ spun tracks for the crowd.

Authentic and replica primary jerseys can now be bought online at the MLS Store.
