StoryCorps Atlanta: Growing Up As Atlanta’s Own ‘Eloise’

StoryCorps Atlanta

Listen

In the early 1940s, when Nancy Simmons was just a young girl, her family moved to Atlanta where her dad held some interesting jobs, including managing one of Atlanta’s finest hotels.

In the StoryCorps Atlanta booth, she tells her son Kent some unforgettable memories from growing up in what is now an Atlanta landmark, the Georgian Terrace Hotel, including roller skating in the ballroom.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta’s StoryCorps Booth.
