On “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes’ penultimate day at WABE, she wanted to speak with Susan V. Booth, the former artistic director of the Alliance Theatre, and a close friend. Booth served as the artistic director of the Alliance Theatre from 2001-2022. During that time, she took the company to unprecedented acclaim with her innovative programming, winning the Tony Award for Regional Theatre in 2007, her educational outreach, and development of partnerships with other arts organizations, both locally and nationally.
In 2022, Susan Booth became the artistic director of the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, where she had previously worked before joining the Alliance. Reitzes and Booth spoke about her time at the Alliance and the many productions she was a part of that went on to national acclaim.
