What To Expect From Homecoming Season In Atlanta

Break out your college’s colors and alumni gear because it’s homecoming season.

Parties, tailgates and games are slated for students and alumni of Atlanta colleges and universities to enjoy.

Here’s what to know about this year’s homecoming season for Georgia State University, Emory University, Morehouse College, Spelman College and Georgia Tech.

Georgia State University

Downtown Atlanta will be painted blue during Georgia State’s homecoming week happening from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5. 

Wednesday through Friday, there will be two food drives benefiting the community in Student Center East at 8 a.m. 

On Thursday, the annual Homecoming Parade of golf carts will course through the campus’ streets from noon to 2 p.m.

Below is a map of the parade route.

Then on Saturday, the Panthers will face off against Arkansas State at GSU Stadium. Tickets cost $20 for the public and are free for students.

Emory University

More than 50 events are planned for Emory’s homecoming happening Oct. 24 to 27. 

The events include a showing of “Coco” on the Emory Quadrangle, a Greek Life mixer and a historical walking tour of the campus. For more information, visit Emory’s website.

Morehouse College

From Oct. 25 to 27, Morehouse will be entering its homecoming season.

The Morehouse College National Alumni Association has an array of events planned for the weekend, ranging from a golf tournament at Topgolf and a legacy party at the Morehouse College Davidson House. 

During the Maroon Tigers vs. Benedict College football game on Saturday, Oct. 26, the association will be putting on a “one-of-a-kind” tailgate experience, complete with dance floors, DJs, food and drinks. If you plan to attend, RSVP online

Spelman College

Day parties and Market Friday are just a few ways that Spelman alumnae can get involved for homecoming.

The four-day homecoming schedule spans from Oct. 24 to 27 and includes a tailgate experience on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Milligan Center Parking Lot from noon to 6 p.m.

Georgia Tech

Alumni of Georgia Tech can reunite with their old classmates throughout homecoming from  Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. 

Reunions are planned for the classes of 1969, 1979 and 1994. The dates and times for each of the reunions can be found on Georgia Tech’s website.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a parade of classic cars will be cruising down Fowler Street for the Ramblin’ Wreck Parade.

The Georgia Tech football team will be playing against Pitt, and there will be a free Ramblin’ Wreck Rally Tailgate that will serve as a pre-game party on Tech Tower Lawn.
